Catalyst2.com is one web host that just screams generic right from the very start. It doesn’t seem to have any sort of a push to get beyond that, either, which is troublesome.
It’s all a template.
When you can look at a web host’s landing page and immediately declare that it’s all just a hot generic mess, that’s probably not the kind of place that you need to be in.
That’s why this host immediately starts off as a hard to sell site, and that means that for newbies, they will probably end up put off before they can ever dig into this hot mess.
Background You Can Skip
Looking further into this particular web host isn’t going to end up giving you any extra Catalyst2 information, which can really be daunting if you want a little background.
It’s no good.
The moment that a web host decides to just not put up any background information about how the company was founded or who is running it, we get wary.
The same should apply to you, because if you know nothing about the company to begin with, where can you even go from there? That’s why this is a web host worth skipping.
Site-Building Features? No
The thing about our Catalyst2 guide is that we really did look to see if there was anything positive to say about the site–and sadly, there wasn’t anything close to that.
It’s so boring.
This means that you’re going to have to settle very pathetically on just a basic cPanel installation, and nothing beyond that. That’s why this site will ultimately fail for you.
If you can’t even get a basic site builder out of a hosting site, then what’s the point? You’ll never find yourself being able to set up easily and efficiently with this host.
The thing about this host is that it just doesn’t even try to stand out. It thinks that being generic in this market is the way to go, but instead it just comes off as very dated.
This host doesn’t try to appeal to anyone in particular, and that really does show. At most, it just tries to sugarcoat a lot of its tech in hopes of sounding smarter online.
It’s not going to happen, and it’s really not the kind of host that can even come close to working out for you because of that. They just don’t seem to care about customers.
Plan Pricing That Needs Fixing
Budget-friendly hosting is absolutely the way to go these days, especially if you’re starting out a new business and trying to save some money. That’s not going to happen here.
We hate that.
Even for their most basic of plans, you’re going to end up having to pay a total of $10.00 monthly. That might not sound like a lot, but it’s going to quickly add up for you.
The thing is, you’re only going to get 512MB of disk space here, and the same in bandwidth. You’ll burn through this in no time, and it’s just not going to work out for you.
Security Fails Overall
When a web host doesn’t even try to tackle the issue of security on their site, that’s really going to end up showing in how well their own landing page is going to run.
It’s awful here.
This host might try to sugarcoat their tech, but they don’t even try to talk about security in the slightest, which is basically putting you and your business in a bad place.
With all of this piling up, you’re going to quickly find this site impossible to run a storefront on, too, because you absolutely cannot purchase SSL certificates on this site.
Speed That Doesn’t Deliver
If you’re trying to think of anything good coming from our Catalyst2 review, think again. Our speed tests showed how slow this site was, too, and thus they received a 4 out of 10.
It’s not good.
After performing a standardized speed test, this site proved that it was extremely slow by loading up in a total of 4.55 seconds overall–obviously, well below average.
Their uptime was also another problem, and the final percentage there was only at 98.333%. This means that over 1.5% of the time, your site will experience blackouts.
User Support is Horrible
Our customer service score was also in the gutter, as they received only a 4 out of 10 on our rating scale for their very, very slow service and poor answers to our questions.
It was not good at all.
The tickets that we submitted would usually be ignored for up to 36 hours, which was absolutely unacceptable and really no way to run any sort of a support team online.
They also are just uneducated about even the most basic of features, which leads to a lot of stress on your part and a whole lot of Googling guesswork to fix your own problems.
The Sad News
With this host’s Twitter, you’re just never going to get the info you need: https://twitter.com/catalyst2
Forget about their Facebook being any kind of informative, sadly: https://www.facebook.com/catalyst2

Catalyst2.com: For Cpanel Hosting, You Really Can’t Make This One Work
